MDC, Inc., Achieving the Dream Initiative
This multi-year initiative, funded by the Lumina Foundation for Education, addresses a national imperative: increasing the success of students at community colleges, especially low- income students and students of color.
KHA helped design learning environments for data and community coaches and designed and facilitated peer learning communities to capture lessons about system and community engagement in northwest New Mexico and along the Texas-Mexico border around McAllen.
Delta Initiative Advisory Council (DIAC)
DIAC was a regional advisory group that helped in framing the change agenda for the Kellogg Foundation’s Mid South Delta Initiative. The DIAC was charged with outlining the most important issues facing the Delta, researching and discussing these issues, and making recommendations for appropriate courses of action within the framework of the Initiative. Working collaboratively with Gary Hubbell Consulting, we conducted learning sessions and retreats with board and staff to re-imagine the vision and structures for a highly committed and engaged board.
Local Initiatives Support Corporation, Greenville, MS & NYC
KHA developed a design team from the Delta to create set of Tools for Understanding Community Connections and Perceptions.
Nonprofit Resources, Inc., Little Rock
Ken Hubbell and Associates provided strategic planning to the board and staff and designed conferences and training workshops as well as publications. Our work beginning in 1995 and continuing for several years included developing a network among 11 collaborative teams working in distressed Arkansas counties to plan and implement comprehensive community development. For this Champion Communities model, we organized conferences, task forces, Internet sites and training. Working with Stephens, Inc. we developed a new funding method using a unique collateralized bond issue to generate operating funds for community coalitions.
University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension, Little Rock, AR
Designed and facilitated leadership workshops centered on the challenges of bringing the knowledge economy to rural communities. Since 1999, we've been a partner in the Vision 2010 Initiative, which hosts learning events that help communities include technology in their development plans.
